14 May The Lord of the Rings - First night review in the London Lite Newspaper
The London Lite featured a brief, but very positive, review in todays Theatre Section based on the first preview the previous week.
9 May The Lord of the Rings - First Preview
The Lord of the Rings opened last night and with a month of previews still to go it is already a spectacular theatrical epic event. As CGI opened the movie makers craft up to undreampt of new possibilites, so Mathew Warchus and his creative team have redefined what is possible in a live performance and it is not only a technical marvel, the story (abridged from the book, so we get to go home before daybreak) is compelling and the cast are without exception a dream.
Appearing from the trees, resplendent in a outfit of gold and singing the highlight number of the show "Lothlorien" Laura Michelle Kelly looks more graceful and beautiful than I have ever seen her be on stage before. A true Elf Queen and uplifting in every appearance, Laura features more often than I had hoped and brings all her skills as an actress and sublime songstress to what will undoubtedly be a most memorable experience for all who see her in it.
This show is definitely a must see for all Laura fans and it's time for AllForLaura's many international visitors to book a London break.

8 March Laura's new video - What's It All For? It's All For Laura!
Courtesy of EMI/Angel AllForLaura.co.uk has the full version of Laura Michelle Kelly's latest video - What's It All For.
This is Laura Michelle Kelly’s first release from her upcoming album, also titled What’s It All For, and this time it’s angsty, it’s edgy and it’s definitely Laura doing what she does best – putting her heart, her soul and huge chunks of life into her work and with this emotive yet ballsy number, she delivers something powerful and passionately angry.
Laura has always been more Rock Chick than balladstress and her exploration into the nightmare of failed relationships and fruitless attempts to prolong them, discovering only pain, torment and final resignation will strike home with many. What’s it all for?

From Angel/EMI - Press Release
What's It All For is neither a typical ballad, nor sentimental love song, it showcases Laura’s amazing vocal talents in all their powerful complexity. The song explores the meaning of love and with her strong, expression-laden voice, Laura questions the treatment meted out by a wayward partner.
Produced by music genius Stephen Lipson (Annie Lennox, Simple Minds, Will Young), What’s It All For is the first single off Laura’s album, due for release on May 7th.
Laura says, “When I heard this Judie Tzuke track I fell in love with it straight away. The lyrics and arrangement are so powerful I couldn’t help but get caught up in the sentiment of the song. I only hope my delivery does it justice.”
Those who heard Laura perform What's It All For, at the many Jools Holland concerts towards the end of 2006, already know that she certainly does do it justice.

The production has book and lyrics by Shaun McKenna & Matthew Warchus and music by A.R. Rahman & Värttinä with Christopher Nightingale. The show will be directed by Matthew Warchus, with choreography by Peter Darling and set and costume design by Rob Howell.
Director Matthew Warchus says of the production, "We have not attempted to pull the novel towards the standard conventions of Musical Theatre, but rather to expand those conventions so that they will accommodate Tolkien's material. As a result, we will be presenting a hybrid of Text, Physical Theatre, Music and Spectacle never previously seen on this scale. To read the novel is to experience the events of Middle-earth in the mind's eye; only in the theatre are we actually plunged into the events as they happen. The environment surrounds us. We participate. We are in Middle-earth."
Tickets are available now.

15 September Laura message to Molly Bedingfield after her visit to Cambodia for Global Angels
I ve just got back from Singapore - a bit jet lagged but feel like I've been changed by what I've seen in Cambodia.
I am amazed and heart broken that children are being abused at such an alarming rate. I have memories of being 9 years old dancing round with my guinea pigs or running and playing with my brothers in fields, going to school and playing with my friends. For some of these girls all they have are memories since they were small of servicing up to 9 men a day! Being repeatedly raped, beaten or tortured! Because of the poverty level and because it's a popular market, most parents consider putting up their child up for sale, most of whom are sold into sexual labour in brothels or to passers by. Some are easy prey as they can be approached on the street by preying adults while they walk to school.
Children as young as 3 are being so violently abused on a regular basis. Not only by foreign peodophiles (as was recently announced in the paper while I was there - a Swiss peodophile was put away for torturing two little girls) but mostly by Cambodians. I was told 65 percent of the girls are also from Vietnam as they are trafficked across the border under the guise of being someone' s maid.
How can it have gone on so long and no one know about it? These poor girls AND boys are suffering violently their whole lives, dying at the hands of their captors or kicked out when they are pregnant or have Aids. All they've known is prostitution so they stay in that cycle till they die.
The Hagar Project is an incredible one. Everyone who works there have committed their lives to helping these girls like they are there own. It amazes me how much love they can give. If we help them, they can change Cambodia.
I saw one of the girl get up and speak about her experience at Aftercare - that is the branch that helps girls after they have escaped sexual abuse. She and her foster mother was moved to tears of thanks that she has been saved and that she has hope. She has worth, a purpose, and value. I saw her with such confidence perform a traditional dance for us along with 6 others and they were so happy and smiling - you couldn't believe what they have been brought through."

3 September Laura visits Cambodia for Global Angels
Laura Michelle Kelly has flown around the world this week to visit a number of Global Angels projects in Cambodia. She will get the opportunity to see for herself the hardship that the orphans in this part of the world live in and also the great work that this charity is doing to improve their lives. Laura who is a Global Angels Ambassador will be reporting back on her return and I'm sure that she will write about it in her official diary.
Global Angels have organised a red carpet extravaganza previewing the ‘coolest’ new West End show, In association with Daddy Cool Musical Production Ltd and Jeans for Genes...this is set to be an unforgettable evening!

Set in multicultural London to the music of Boney M and other Frank Farian artists, Daddy Cool tells the story of a young man’s discovery of truth, love and music. This £3 million show features a cast led by Michelle Collins as nightclub owner ‘Ma Baker’, Harvey as ‘Shake’, head of the SubSonic Kru, and Javine as ‘Asia Blue’, the lead singer in Ma Baker’s nightclub, and includes classics like Rivers of Babylon, Ma Baker, Where Do You Go, Brown Girl in the Ring and Mary’s Boychild. Many of the numbers, originally written in the 70s and 80s, have been re-interpreted with contemporary musical influences whilst still retaining the elements that made the songs such huge hits back in the day.

20 August Some Kind of Wonderful
It was the second and final outing for the Tribute to Dirty Dancing and it was every bit as magnificent as the first. A different venue and impending rain made little difference to the spectacle and the accomplished cast performed to an audience of thousands who, this time, were not kept at bay across a lake. The rain held off until near the end but no one seemed to care. By then every one danced with wild (and wet) abandon and the audience, representing all age groups (and there were even a few men there), swayed and cheered and clapped and sung along to songs made timeless by this epoch defining movie.
If there was a definitive list of guilty pleasure movies then Dirty Dancing would surely appear high on it. It’s the chickiest of chick flicks, where cheese and good feelings abound. This was the last time we could spend an evening with the brilliance of Laura and Mark, their sparkling ensemble and the innovative craft of Nick Winston and let them share the wealth of classic hits the movie left us with. As before I buzzed. As before I was energised. As before there were fireworks and as before they failed to match the bang and the flash and the incredible energy of the performances that preceded them.
If you missed these two shows then you missed two of this years musical highlights. Sometimes in a show a cast is so great, the music so loved, the dancing so inspired that you get a fantastic confluence, a wonderful musical nirvana, resulting in a night that stays with you for a long time. This year we were blessed with two of them.
16 August Laura on Vivienne Westwood - Time Out
Laura is interviewed in this weeks Time Out talking about Vivienne Westwood, in their regular My Favourite Londoner feature. Laura has been a fan of Vivienne Westwood's for a long time and has been seen wearing a number of her creations out, recently to Elton John's last White Tie and Tiara ball where she was photographed for OK
12 August Charlotte and Stephanie meet Laura Michelle Kelly!
It might have been another damp Saturday night but no one seemed to notice. The two lucky winners fron The Dinner with Laura competition enjoyed an amazing evening with Laura Michelle Kelly which started at The Ivy and ended with amazing Haagen Daas ice creams in their Leicester Square restaurant.
The girls got Laura all to themselves for a few hours at The Ivy then were joined by the rest of us for dessert around the corner, which, as we all know, is the most important meal of the day.
It could have been the first unnofficial LMK fan club meeting, had I thought of it earlier. Laura signed cd's and programmes for everyone and if you need to know, loves hot chocolate fudge brownies although inexplicably my dessert was three times the sizes of everyone elses, but I needed it.
Thank you Stephanie and Charlotte for being such great company. It was a real pleasure spending an evening with you both and a huge Thank You to Laura for arranging this great evening for a whole bunch of fans and for buying me a big dessert. Again!
1 August Laura goes Into The Woods
Laura will return to the stage on the 22nd of October for Sondheims Into The Woods at the Royal Albert Hall. There will be only two performances and ticket information can be found here.
31 July Communication is released for download
In an age when the media promote fools and adulate incompetents, it is so refreshing to find someone who exceeds the highest expectation, shatters our preconceptions of what a new popular star should be and leaves the crowds of wannabe’s hawking vacant promises in her wake. With her astonishing humility, a passion for perfecting her craft and a genuinely exceptional musical talent, Laura Michelle Kelly is excessively worthy of greatness and The Storm Inside is the perfect expression of this.
Launch High Quality in external player
Laura’s cover of Communication snuggles up next to you and softly sings into your ear with a voice laden with breathy suggestion and intimacy, this is a song for sunny days with close friends and when you just want to feel loved.
Communication is available for download on iTunes and 7Digital along with all the normal places.
29 July Laura performs at Michael Ball's Prince's Trust Cymru event in Dyffryn Gardens
Laura Michelle Kelly took to the stage today and brightened what was doubtlessly the wettest day in Welsh history. Laura opened the evenings entertainment with a lively selection of numbers from her album The Storm Inside; opening with There Was A Time then Stumbling, You Do Something to Me, The Storm Inside and finally her new single Communication.
Oddly enough the storm outside abated briefly during The Storm Inside but the respite was brief and the heavens reopened for her final number. This didn't cool the response to her confident and lively performance and again she charmed another new audience, this time the legions of Michael Ball fans.
A little later in the evening Laura returned to the stage to perform a breathtaking duet with Michael Ball, singing The Prayer which elicited a standing ovation from the lively but very, very wet audience.
This was a very special evening, no matter what the storm could throw at the audience sitting unprotected in the open, they showed their appreciation for each performer and every performance, they applauded with passion, cheered with gusto and sung along, refusing to let the weather spoil another evening filled with music that left you warm with a Ready Brek glow.
At one point in the evening an angel appeared at my side, having ran around from the stage and battled through the audience, to give me her umbrella. In the interval she reappeared with hot tea and sandwiches. Thank you so much.
28 July Laura has a new video!
Laura recorded the video for her next single,Communication, last month and you can watch it online here.
The single will be released on CD, with Butterflies as a bonus track, on the 21st of August, with the download available from the 31st of July. Also available for download from iTunes, on the 21st of August, will be an accoustic version of Communication. Loads of good stuff to look forward to!
22 July Dirty Dancing in the Park with Laura
Some films appear in a blaze of hype and disappear onto the 3 for £10 shelf at HMV faster than you can say Mission Impossible:3. A rare few movies define an era and remain ageless for generations to come, picking up new adherents from each new generation. Dirty Dancing was one of the latter and the music from it retains the ability to excite youthful passions and inspire the listener to just feel pretty darn good about life and maybe, after a glass of wine, dance like no one is watching.
Applying this evocative mix of tunes to “A Tribute To” show, along with some seriously talented West Enders, was the inspiration of a genius and the result, from the exciting Director/Choreographer Nick Winston, made a stormy, sultry Saturday night in Hampstead, a night to remember for a long, long time.
Laura opens the show and performs flawlessly, passionately and with boundless energy. Every number effervesces and the entire show sparkles through the energy of Yes to the last playing of The Time of My Life. Encores are demanded by the audience again and again and again and eventually the performers escape and the fireworks are set off. Even their bangs, colourful flashes and explosions do little to diminish the memory of what we have just seen. The audience is buzzing long after the last bang. They are still eager to dance and it continues on the buses and trains on the way home. No, really!
It’s a show with music that already knows its way to your soul, with creatively inspired, funny, sexy choreography and a really great cast. It’s about as exciting and energetic as life gets. You can live it on the 19th August at Marble Hill, Twickenham. Take a picnic, take wine, pack your dancing shoes and remember, no one is watching you dance, so enjoy it.
15 July Laura's Summer Swing
It’s a hot Saturday evening in July. And there is not a cloud in the sky. Everyone is lying on their picnic blankets sipping chilled something, eating gargantuan picnics and our favourite singer walks out onto the stage and smiles at the 5000 people in front of her at Kew Gardens. I’m Laura Michelle Kelly…” It’s going to be a perfect day.
Accompanied on guitar by Ben Parker – of Ben & Jason fame – Laura looks beautiful and tiny on a huge stage, set up for Mr. H’s orchestra. But this is no hindrance for someone well used to commanding a stage and her voice soon soars to fill the venue.
She is in a playful mood tonight, showing no sign of nerves, and introduces her companion as “Gorgeous Ben”. The opening notes of There Was a Time ring out and Laura moves through her set picking up new fans with every song. Today’s set includes Stumbling, You Do Something to Me (live for the first time since Café de Paris), Numb, The Storm Inside (first live performance!) and the new single, Communication. The Storm Inside goes down extremely well with the Jools Holland fans sitting around us and by the end there was quite a crowd gathered around the front of the stage.
All too soon the highlight of the evening is over and Laura leaves us enthused. We’d already seen the main event and are now looking forward to the day, sometime soon, when Laura performs a full set in her own right.
Thanks Jools, now book Laura for New Years Eve.
3 July Laura on IMDb!
There are some great new images on Lauras IMDb entry. Plus we find out Laura is trained in both the rapier and dagger as well as boxing and martial arts!
1 July Music on a Summer Evening

20 June We have a decision on the Dinner with Laura competition!
Our special judge has deliberated over the best tie breakers and has decided that two lucky entries will enjoy entrees in the company of our favourite actress singer songwriter.
The winners are Stephanie Hibberd and Charlotte Clitherow. Congrats girls! We'll work out the runners up this week but meanwhile a note from Laura.
I thought all the messages were really lovely and wished I could have had dinner with you all! Stephanie and Charlotte - I look forward to meeting you both soon!
We'll definitely have another dinner competition in the future. I promise that I will say hello personally to anyone that comes to support the gigs I do, so look out for those on the news section.
Thanks to everyone who took the time to work out the answers and enter the competition and we’ll try to make the next one a little easier. At least we all know about Molly Bedingfield and London Bridge now.

18 JuneSunday in the Park with Laura
It started out just a Sunday somewhere in London, people strolling through the trees, of a small suburban park, on an island in the city, on an ordinary Sunday.
Today Laura performed live at The Marylebone Summer Fayre and transformed an afternoon of music into an event not to be missed, on what became an extraordinarily beautiful sunny, summers afternoon in June.
Laura shines on stage and today was no exception, performing four numbers from The Storm Inside and treating a new audience to her sublime talents. This time Laura shared There Was a Time, Butterflies, Stumbling and Numb with us. This was Laura's first public performance after her trip to LA and it was undoubtedly appreciated by the picnicking audience. You don’t get many occasions like this and even fewer for free, when they come along they should be shared in the company of friends and savoured.
Thanks for today and welcome home Laura!
17 June I was sent this as a sneak preview to the images from The Global Angels evening back in May that should appear on their site this week.
Although I tried to Step Up and be a Global Angel I still managed to look like a bloke in a fat suit. I am, however, accompanied by a true Angel, someone whose company I am very occasionally blessed with, Laura Michelle Kelly.
You can visit the Global Angels site through this link here and find out more about the amazing work that they do. I am sure that they will even let you take part, Step Up and become an Angel as well.
May/June COMPETITION! The much anticipated Dinner With Laura Competition has just closed!
AllForLaura.co.uk is running this event with Laura's Group on Yahoo and one lucky winner, with the best tiebreaker, will get to join us for Dinner with Laura Michelle Kelly! There are signed CD's, pictures and posters for the runners up as well so even if you can't get to London there are still excellent prizes. Good luck and we'll see one of you soon.
23 May Laura had a great interview in the Sunday Express magazine's In The Closet feature. You should be able to read it here
20 MayI know I go on about this endlessly but I got to experience it again and you really are missing out. Laura live, performing her own music, just being Laura Michelle Kelly, is an amazingly uplifting experience and tonight Laura performed live with the 60 piece BBC Concert Orchestra live on Radio 2.
I left the radio at home and got to watch Laura from about 4 ft away and she gave her four numbers everything, she always does. Laura sets herself very high standards and never disappoints her audience. Tonight Laura treated us to There Was A Time, Somewhere Only We Know, You Do Something To Me and Butterflies for the first time live. It is a truly moving number and a song that will mean something to everyone who hears it. Pop over to the Radio 2 web site and listen to it again and again and you'll also get to enjoy a new and very talented clarinettist Sarah Williamson who deserves a whole web site to herself.
18 May A new video interview! Laura discusses her video and music with Glamour.com Meanwhile Music-News.com has The Storm Inside on their playlist of songs that they are playing to death. If my experience of The Storm Inside is anything to go by it's going to be around on that list, for a very long time. If you fancy a technical recount of the filming of There Was A Time have a look here.
18 MayThe Daily Record reviews The Storm Inside ***** (count them, 5!) A SLOW Sunday morning of an album for those who like Katie Melua and Norah Jones to enjoy. Stuffed with lush arrangements, soaring vocals and styles ranging from jazz to folk. Broken hearts are soothed with songs like Numb, Losing My Mind, Stumbling, and Reach Out. Each of the 12 tracks could be on a film soundtrack .
17 MayCheck out the great interview with Laura Michelle Kelly on the FemaleFirst web site.
12 May The Global Angels Step Up Launch in St. Pancras tonight, which was hosted by David Grant, featured Francesca Martinez, Nate James, Tenors Unlimited, Daniel and Natasha Bedingfield and Laura Michelle Kelly and what a night it was. Lots of fund raising, lots of wine and food, lots of fun, some more fund raising and loads of outstanding music from some seriously outstanding musicians. Laura performed Numb, a real favourite of mine, live for the first time in her set which also included Stumbling and There Was A Time. She never fails to move me on stage and tonight was no exception. A star performance from a real star and great, great fun to be with. I can not recommend seeing Laura live on stage enough. Keep an eye out for the next opportunity and give yourself a treat, you will not be disappointed and while you are waiting get yourself a copy of The Storm Inside.
10 May Next Stop - The Global Angels evening on Friday 12th. It's a charity event so the tickets are pricey but Laura always delivers a brilliant, soulful and passionate performance and if you haven't yet enjoyed her singing her own numbers live, it really is an experience not to be missed plus the proceeds of the evening go to a very worth cause.
10 May Laura had a great time meeting fans and signing her debut solo album The Storm Inside for them at the Dresscircle in Covent Garden this afternoon. I was so late and very nearly missed it all but they waited for me. Thanks Laura! Tim, of Laura's Yahoo Group fame, got there on time and took a bunch of photos for the fans who forgot their cameras. They are posted here. Great job Tim!

There is a review of one of Laura's three live performances this week here
22 April Laura is featured on the front of the Isle of Wight County Press - Weekender magazine edition with an excellent interview by John Hannam inside.
John has been writing and broadcasting on Laura for many years now, long before she first appeared on the West End stage, and caught up with her during a recent trip she made back to the Isle of Wight.
Thanks for the newspaper John.
22 April Laura Michelle Kelly was on Craig Doyle's show on Capital Radio this morning, performing a number of live songs from her new album and enjoying a great interview.
This is the first of several interviews to be broadcast in the run up to the album launch and Laura was obviously relaxed, happy and confident in Craigs company. Hear Laura's three acoustic sessions again here.
Missed it? Then look out for John Hannams interview with Laura on the 23rd at midday, which is broadcast online.
21 April Although Laura has claimed in a recent interview that her new music career is still a little outside her comfort zone, you would never believe it having just watched her perform four numbers at The Bedford in Balham. This is her third venue this week and each has allowed her to build on her already impressive performing skills and capture another audience, most of whom were seeing her for the first time. Her four song set included Communication, There Was A Time, Stumbling and the number Jamie Cullum penned for her, Sweet Solution. I had only heard Sweet Solution once before. It's a hip swinging, upbeat number and I love it plus it's obviously one Laura enjoys performing.
Try your hardest to see Laura live. She puts so much into each and every performance you can not fail to be totally enveloped in her style, her voice, her passion and her music. You will not be disappointed. Don't forget Lauras live performance on Capital Radio, Saturday morning.

12 April It might be worthwhile mentioning now that even though There Was A Time will be launched for download next week, because it will not have its physical launch until May 1st the first weeks downloads will not give it an official chart position. If you can wait another week then it can chart on downloads only, the following week will have physical sales as well as downloads. Even better buy it each week just to be sure.
12 April www.LauraMichelleKelly.co.uk Laura's (other) site reports a few dates for your diary and especially your video recorder (Tim).

Breaking news! There Was A Time is Record of the Week on both Radio 2 (1st April) and Capital FM
Go here to register for and download Laura's new video for There was a Time. An outstanding accompaniment to her forthcoming release and it's great to see Laura looking and sounding great. Oddly enough the last time I was awake at 4:15 am in a hotel room it was because I was jetlagged and in Singapore to see Laura in A Twist of Fate. I however whiled away the hours eating mini-bar chocolate and hotel biscuits, next time I'm going to place all the lamps on the floor around me as well.
There Was A Time will be released on April 17th. For those of you who have not been fortunate enough to hear it yet, the track is on www.LauraMichelleKelly.co.uk and it's the perfect first release from The Storm Inside. Laura weaves her own evocative lyrics with familiar passionate, powerful vocals to achieve something only we knew, a spell binding performance. Enjoy.
Record of the Day, a weekly music industry publication reports the following;
There was an impressive turnout for Angel Music's showcase for its first signing Laura Michelle Kelly this week. She is a strong vocalist and certainly held our attention with an intriguing mix of covers and originals. More than one person commented to us along the lines of "she's good but I wouldn't want to be the one trying to market her." We expect EMI to impress us on that front.
Well tonight was truly amazing. We were at The Cafe de Paris off Leicester Square, Laura did a five song set opening with The Riverman, then There Was A Time, Stumbling, You Do Something To Me and finally Sweet Solution. After the performance they played the full album over the sound system and there was not a weak track on it. Any one of these five show pieces could have and probably will stand on its own and Laura could have based the album around any of them. A debut of such complete quality is much sought after but rarely found.
She looked great on stage, lithe and beautiful, with a lively, passionate and confident performance; seemingly completely at ease in this new environment, singing her own material, as Laura Michelle Kelly, for the first time live. It seemed fitting that this milestone should have been achieved in the West End, the very place Laura spent seven years delighting audience after audience and growing into the sublime actress, singer, songwriter who shared her soul with us on a dark, wet and bitter cold February evening and left me glowing from the inside out.
It was announced tonight that Laura's debut album,The Storm Inside will now be released on May 1st with the single There Was A Time available the week before. Laura was busy filming the video for it over the last weekend. Exciting times!
April 3rd draws closer! At a secret location, in the centre of Londons Theatreland, Laura Michelle Kelly will give a lucky few an exclusive experience of "The Storm Inside". For the first time, outside the recording studio, Laura will perform a selection of numbers from this highly anticipated album, which is already creating a stir in the press. I can honestly say I am beside myself with excitement, however, in the name of professionalism (and trying to look like a grown up), you can be sure that I will try my hardest to maintain a cool exterior.
Visit the guest book and comment away, which while it is still work in progress does work. If you log an e-mail address I'll eventually get around to issuing a news letter.
